Back to School

Well my first official year of teaching has begun!  I love it! I definitely chose the most rewarding job possible.  I have 17 little ones that think I am cool. Thank goodness!!  I am loving the fact that I get to see Kolten each and every day as he comes to the room to visit after school.  He comes and steals my candy. (And thats okay)

Ryan is still loving his job and seems to be in the full swing of things now.

Next week is Kolten's birthday and we will be celebrating his 12 years of life!! Pictures to come :)

Kindergarten Life

I just wanted to start off my apologizing for not blogging for the past 2 and 1/2 months.  EEK! I guess my life has been busy with graduating college, birthday, Christmas and the whole first job thing.  The past two months have been wonderful!

I have been at my first "real" job for the past two weeks.  I am loving loving them!  It is my first time in Kindergarten and I have definitely had to jump in head first.  My class has 30 students, with the other class having 31 students.  This particular school does a lot of team teaching between the two Kindergartens. I absolutely love that!  I have never been at a school big enough to have more than one of each grade level and it is something I adore.  It is nice to have someone there to lend a helping hand, give advice and just to listen to me vent.  So thankful for such wonderful people that have been there to support me.

I need to start blogging about all of the funny quotes the children say.  It seems like each and every minute of the day I have children constantly telling me something that makes me giggle.  For now I will leave you with this one -

Me: "Student, why do you feel like you are sitting in timeout?"
Student: "I don't know.  I just need something to do all the time.  I get bored."
Me:  "Well okay I will get you some added work that you can do when you get bored."
Student:  Thinks about this for a while and than responds with "Ms. Childers I am just a snack eater, I just need snacks."  "I really like doughnuts."

If that is what he think will help :)

Fallin'

October you were absolutely insane :)   School has been delightful! I am really enjoying student teaching and thankful to be in such a terrific situation!   After fall break I took full responsibility of the class and it is so nice.  I know this is exactly what I want to be doing for the rest of my life.

The first weekend I was ready for a weekend at the Red River Rivalry!  I made it to Dallas and even got to go to a fancy steakhouse.  At around ten on Friday night Kaiser, (Ryan's dad, who was also in Dallas) called me and said that something was wrong with grandma and he would be heading back to Oklahoma that night.  I hopped in the passenger seat and we left around 12 to arrive in Bartlesville at 6:00 a.m.  We found out that she had a stroke and she is still on a looonnng path to recover.  Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.  While there I found out that I spent the afternoon with four teenage boys - who are actually 3 adults and a 5 year old.  They had a ball at the go-kart course, which I was told my future children will love as well.

The next weekend we went to Austin!  GO POKES! I loved Austin last year and I absolutely could not wait to go again.  It definitely did not disappoint.  We got a free room out of the trip and the COWBOYS won!  Wonderful time.

The next week was a two day week with the students and than Kim and I had parent teacher conferences.  After that I went with mom and grandma to Affair of the Heart.  I was banned from this craft show at around the age of 10 due to saying "Are we leaving yet?" probably about 500 times.  They lifted the ban for this year only and gave me a test. They said I passed and was welcome again.  The next day (Sunday) Ryan and I want to the All-Star game in OKC.  It was a lot of fun!

This past weekend we spent Homecoming in Stillwater.  Walkaround, the orange fountain, the game and friends made it absolutely tremendous.  My story began at OSU and I will forever bleed orange.

Only 46 days until graduation.  :) I don't know what I would do without Facebook and Skype. I love when my favorites call me :)

Football and Flowers

Wow! I haven't posted alll month.  My life has been crazy I guess!  I am still loving my student teaching!  The students remind me everyday why I chose this career and I am so excited to see the opportunities that await me.  I should start another blog with funny stuff they say.  The other day we were counting even numbers and under one of the boys breath (die hard Wildcat football fan)  I heard him say "2,4,6,8 Who do we appreciate? Wildcats! Wildcats!" I love them :) Another funny story - Today we had fruit-kabobs while we were getting a food presentation from the high schoolers.  Apparently one of our kids thought it was called a shish-ka"boob" :)

Ryan moved to pumper this month!  He started on the 19th and is absolutely loving it.  The move involved a company computer and truck. He is riding with someone that loves sports (OU, but we can forgive him) and they are hitting it off great! The promotion also brought him 30 days of work. Yes, 30 days STRAIGHT. No Saturdays off. No Sundays off.  This will be an adjustment for him and I but we can make it 30 days of seeing each other on Friday and Saturday evening.

This month I went to the OSU game that was on Thursday night with Emelie.  I stayed at the old house and loved spending time with her!  She is such a phenomenal women and I am so glad I got the chance to live with her for a year.  What would I do without her today? I also ran into Jami, Tyler, Sierra and BC at the game! I got to sit with them for a quarter. So thankful to have all of them in my life.  Such a good stepbrother!

We also celebrated Kenzie's tenth birthday in Woodward! I can't believe she is that old but what a blessing she is in our lives!  It will be so fun watching her grow up and breaking those boys hearts!

A couple weekends ago we went to a wedding in Fairview.  It was a family friend of Ryan's who I have come to think of as my friend.  I have got the chance to go to Grand with them the past two summers and everyone was so welcoming and inviting that I couldn't ask to be in a better group of family friends.  I can't wait til I can be there the whole week to go shopping with all of the girls.  The wedding was absolutely beautiful!  Haley (the bride) surprised her groom by singing a song to him during the ceremony.  It definitely brought tears to my eyes.  She sang so wonderfully.  I told Ryan before the wedding that I would run away as they announced they were throwing the bouquet.  Dawn heard of this and immediately said NO WAY!  Well to my pleasure they announced that we would be sending off the bride and groom. I thought I was in the clear and grabbed a sparkler ready to send them off!  Well I was about 3 people deep in the crowd to wish the newlyweds a happy life forever, all while trying to keep this little boy from burning me with that sparkler of his when..... To my surprise Haley picked me out from the crowd and handed me, yes handed me the bouquet.  It was mine :) Now if only Ryan had caught the garter!

We took family pictures this past weekend! Can't wait to share them with everyone.  With love, K

School is cool.

Learning so much this semester! AND I am only two weeks in to it.  I am really excited to see what I will learn this semester.  I have become addicted to looking up different lesson ideas and different room decorations!  It occupies my time on Pinterest. (I will tell more about Pinterest later)   I am loving the people I have encountered this semester and know they will be there to help always!

Last night I emceed the Miss Waynoka pageant.  I was Little Miss Waynoka in 1993 - but did not run for Miss Waynoka.  In fact I was the ONLY girl in my class that didn't!  :)   I have loved that I have got the opportunity to do this. The girls are awesome to work with and being on stage with them makes me feel like a star.

Ryan is currently trying to get a promotion to a new job!  Let's pray he gets it.  This would mean a pay raise and a new truck - which would save him a ton of money!! I can think of a lot of different things he can purchase with that extra money :)  Please keep Ryan in your prayers as he goes through this stage.

Next weekend is OSU football and I couldn't be more excited for this to start.  LOVE my cowboys! and Go Sooners for those that want to hear that. ;)   I guess being preseason #1 is pretty awesome.

One of the greatest ladies I know!  Karen Sharp I love you :)

 2 of my favorite kiddos!

 Love this boy!

Waynoka

This post shall be all abut my hometown.  Being home the WHOLE summer really reminded me of why I am so thankful for growing up in that small northwest Oklahoma town.  I am also thankful that Ryan now has a house there!  Northwest Oklahoma is where our family is and it is where we belong.  I loved loved loved spending 3 whole months at home.  Most of that time was spent with my brother and dad at home.  For those that don't know my dad hurt his back at the beginning of summer - which meant that he couldn't work and more time with us!  I loved it! The summer brought back my baseball boys, basketball camps, lake trips and bringing me back to my values.  The summer brought more time with my grandma coming up with new craft ideas, time with PaPa, time riding horses with dad, time at the pool and relaxation.  Waynoka brought me my summer.  I can honestly say that summer wouldn't have been the same anywhere else.  I love that I have the opportunity to drive an hour maximum and see the majority of both of our families! I am so thankful for this town and what all it has brought into my life.  Without it I wouldn't have learned the lessons that have been put in front of me!

W - Wonderful
A - Adventure
Y - Youthful
N -Natural
O - Old - The history in the town is remarkable!
K - Kind
A -Authentic

Tomorrow I start school with 27 third graders!  I couldn't be more excited.  Keep me in your thoughts!  Love, K

Summer Lovin'

I haven't posted in a long time so I thought I should update on what is going on in the life.  I am currently taking a class at Northwestern that I will need in order to coach.  I am learning about different athletic injuries, how to tape ankles and pretty much anything I would need to know about sports.  Such as how you shouldn't play when lightning is around and the fact that you shouldn't move an athlete if they have a head injury. WHOO!  Thank goodness :)

Last weekend Ryan got a day off! Yes, a day off! We got to go to Grand Lake for 3 whole days!  It was awesome.  We got to rest, wakeboard, wake surf, ride the jet skis and see family.  It was exactly what we needed.  I feel like I gained 10 years of life as I am so sore from the fun.

Tomorrow night is my baseball boys party.  We are going to have a swim party at my grandmas and cook out and just have a good time.  I have missed the 11 boys that I would see at least 3 days a week during the month of June so I am really excited.

We are still working on the house.  I am on the last of my "To Do" list and I don't know who is happier - Ryan or I.  He tells everyone that he comes home everyday to find something new on the wall (Totally not true).   I am also gearing up for the City Wide garage sale in Waynoka in September.  Between Grandmas, moms, Ryans I have so much to get ready!

This weekend we are playing in a softball tournament in Waynoka.  This will be a fun weekend with a bunch of friends that hopefully doesn't become too stressful!  I will post the outcome later on.

With love, K
